Collaborated on design of 2D thermal model of a moving electric vehicle using MATLAB Simscape. The model simulates travel (airspeed, elevation, power required, etc.) according to the US06 Supplemental FTP driving schedule over a 12-hour period.
Personal contributions include setup of cabin interior, HVAC system, and environmental conditions. Prioritized modeling of most significant convection, conduction, and radiation effects including those from the sun, surrounding air, HVAC system, passengers, etc. Justified assumptions as needed. Captured power required to HVAC as well as fluid interactions throughout subsystems via coolant loop. Modeled transient environmental conditions including solar zenith, solar flux, air temperature, and sky temperature.
